Helsingin Sanomat Eiffel Tower

The world has not been discovered yet

There are cities you think you know inside out. Then there is the reality of things, a kaleidoscopic composition made of invisible tiny paths, hidden sightseeing spots and places that only locals whisper about. It’s all there, concealed from your eyes, waiting only for somebody to show you the way. Commissioned by Sanoma/Helsingin Sanomat to promote the world-tripping web community Omamaailma, the picture is based on a concept developed by Family.

Created almost entirely by Fake’s terrific Matte Painter Raine Kuusi with the help of the skilled 3D Artist Mikko Lahti, the print was crafted blending together photographs, 3D and digital painting techniques into a seamless landscape.
Just for the record, Fake’s geography mark back in school was quite good: the position of the Seine is accurate, the vegetation has been taken from authentic European flora references and the overall colors have been set according to natural chromaticism, with a tip of cinematic mood. You might call us perfectionist, we just wanted to show you what do you really know about Paris.
