Tre Vänner 7 Miljonärer
29th September 2006 - Tre Vänner gave Fake free hands in designing and creating the title sequence in a way that would best suit 7 Miljonärer (7 Millionaires). It's a movie directed by Michael Hjorth about a group of siblings plotting against each other in an inheritance dispute colored with double identities and other suspicious activities.
After seeing the rough cut Fake came up with the idea of representing the movie and its characters as a board game with many surprising turns. There's a thin plot following the characters' roles in the movie hidden within the title sequence. Each of the main characters got their own piece, which were carefully modeled by Digital Artist Mikko Lahti.
The entire look of the board game including the board and cards was created at Fake. Digital Artist Tuomas Korpi designed the board game's appearance and illustrations in 1930's style. The quality of handiwork is clearly visible, unlike in most modern board games. Also the logo for 7 Miljonärer was designed together with the title sequence and later used in all marketing of the movie.
Animator Mari Tolkkinen, Lead Artist Rami Riihijärvi and VFX Supervisor Ville Vaajakallio created an animatic cut of the entire title sequence to the original music. Subsequently the finished images were animated, simulated and lit based on the animatic.
The animatic remained a work-in-progress throughout the process until the final order of the credits was decided upon.
Ville once again put his best efforts to compositing in search of the macro look with its shallow depth of field and stylized colors. The final touch to the look came from Creative Director Santtu Parikka, who came up with the idea of adding pixie dust in the air to emphasize the camera movement and to add a bit of that Vegas feel.
After seeing the finished film, Tre Vänner producer Daniel Wagner said that their stakes were now even higher to make the movie look as glamorous after the title sequence.
