Uutishuone Opening Sequence
Uutishuone is this season's major drama series on Finnish television channel YLE. For the crucial opening sequence, Fake and Zodiak Television Finland planned a concept that supports the plot, is financially feasible and has the right historical angle.
Using as main set a newsroom furnished with authentic equipment and furniture from the 60’s and 70’s, a complex sequence shot of time ellipsis shows the career advancements of Raija Aalto, one of the main female characters. The choreography of the piece had to be arranged smartly due the need to change the look, clothes and position of the actress in less than 30 seconds.
Postproduction focused on two sides: on one hand there was emphasis on color correction and picture-framing to give the right aged appeal to the sequence, on the other cutting-edge techniques were used for slick suspended titles and accelerated camera movements, reflecting the high production values of the project.
